A LTHOUGH this office has been in f\ existence for a period of more than seven yenrs, it is believed that the objects for which is was established are not sufficiently known or understood. The administration of the wills of per* sous who by appointing the Public Trustee aa theit executor secure the guarantee of the State for the due fulfilment of their wishes, aad avoid the risk consequent on the ap« pointment of private persons as executors, who not frequently, though earnestly <!e---siroub of acting for the benefit of parlies interested, fail to carry out legally the objects for whialrtrftrrwere appointed, aud consequently involve themselves and those whose interestu they are striving to protect in costly and hwriißsinji litigation. 3. The administration of all estates of •which no disposition haa been mado by will, whenever relatives do not wish to incur the resposibility of administration, or cannot from any cause obtain the necessary- powers to act. In such cases it is the duty of the Publio Trustees to discharge all legal debts so far as the assets extend, and divide the • reiidue amongst the next of kin. i 4.
