Wellington, Thursday, 7 p.m. Mr Barron gave notice in the House this afternoon to ask tomorrow whether the Government intends to take steps to suppress gambling especially race consultation. It is rumoured today that the Hon. E. Richaidson is likely to assume office again as Minister of Public Works. Other names are also mentioned, notably those of Messrs Wright and Wakefield. I A meeting of the unemployed was , held dn the reclaimed land this morn- 1 ing. It was of a very quiet nature the principle movers in the matter being absent. It was resolved to petition the Government for employment and meet again tomorrow, j About eighty attended. Sorensen, the Mormon elder, has gone to Pai'ibaka with the view of inducing the Aboriginals to become converts, to the mormon faith and accompany him back to' Utah. The Stprmbird sails for Foxton this eveniDg.
