Heavy rain on Saturday has had the effect of raising the height of water in reservoir to 80 feet, thus putting an end to the water famine. Paul, the Wairarapa Prophet, died yesterday. A great tawji is to be held at Te Ore Ore. Jonas Woodward died very suddenly this morning. He sat on the bench on Saturday, and this morning did a little digging in his garden, when feeling rather poorly, he went inside, sat down on a couch, and died without a struggle or groan. He was Manager of the Trust and Loan Company, and Chairman of the Wel-lington-Manawatu Railway Company. Vessels in port lowered their flags half mast in token of respect. The barque Alastor sailed for London this morning. The Stormbird sails for Foxton this evening.
