FURTHER PARTICULARS.
(From the Manawatu Standard.) The poor fellow left the Fitxherbert Ranges on 28th April, bo that till discovered he had been in all twenty-five days out His first request on being brought into the Woodville Hotel was for an almanac, so that he might see how long he had been lost. He had a pocketcompass with him, but the first two days he was ont he had never been able to see the son, and so got no bearings. For the first fortnight he was never dry, and being insufficiently dad, he suffered much. He had no blankets, as was stated before, and had neither flannel nor drawers on. He wore a thin pair of moleskin trousers, but not a top coat or extra clothing of any kind. He had no fire all the time, and must, have suffered greatly from exposure. He left, ao he informed the editor of this piper, in order to obtain some tobacco, and pay up his calls to the Building Society. He never abandoned hope, an<} began at last to get partially reconciled to his being lost. He imagined he was somewhere near Foxton, where he came out, as he heard the crowing of cocke. He was about two miles from the Gorge, and must have wandered several hundred miles altogether. For the first fortnight he made about ten miles a-day, generally making up some kind of rough whare in which to pass the night. He came across many wild cattle, two in particular which were of enormous dimensions.
