A DEFENDANT'S OBJECTIONS.

They were trying an assault and battery case in Justice Alley the. other day, or were getting ready to, when the defendant objected to the jury which the con-table had gath ered together. Beginning at number one, the Court asked :—

" Stateyour objections to the juryman'* 4

•'I beat him out of 15 dots on a horse trade, and I know hqw he fuels/ was the reply. " And this one."

" He and. I couldn't agree oo a gauio of cards one day last week, Hnd I,sttielWd hia aged head. He has not forgotten it, you bet." •' Well, here's the third man ?"
