Wellington, Monday, 7 p.m. At the meetiug of the Provisional Directors of the Wellingtou-Maua-watu railway Co. today, the following resolutions were carried : — l. That the Provisional Directors of the company tender to Sir Truvevs their grateful thanks for his efforts to push forward the undertaking, but regret that in the absence of complete sur- ( veys, estimate of costs, and other important information thoy are unable to endorse his declaration at Palmer- j ston that the proposed railway would unite with the existing one iv the i neighborhood of that township. 2. ' <
That the point at which the pioposod railway shall unite with the Foxton line be left open in the meantime, and that the determination of the question at the hands of the Directors be in favor of the line from Horowlienna which, after careful survey and examination, shows the least engineering difficulties, which involves the least expenditure in construction, and which offers the greatest commercial advantages. Shares amounting in value to £30,000 have been taken up. At the meeting Mr Travel's' resignation as a Director aud as Solicitor to the company was read, but he was asked to reconsider the matter.
