PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH.

The sile of goode announced took place afc the Primitive Methodist Cimrch last Tuus diy, tho ladies of tho congregation being in charge of the affair. As might he expected, the display of goods was in no way pretentious, being rather useful than ornamental. The workmanship was extremely creditable, and most of those who visited the sale parted with some cish, being apparently well pleased with thtir purchases. Afc about six o'clock tea was laid, and although the attendance was rather 'small, those piesont I enjoyed their meal exceedingly. During ! the evening Several readings and recitations j were given, whilst some pieces of music | 'wero also rendered, which entertained thoso who attended tho sale. Upon the whole, the affair was in every way a success. The cash . received on Tuesday amounted to £11 lGs Od. Trior to that date the Ladies' Committee had received the sum of £16 12s B£d. Thii amount was made up partly by goods sold, and partly by tea provided, there teing an arrangement that the ladies meeting for working purposes should each pay is to the fund for tea, notwithstanding thafc the tea was provided gratuitously by fche, lady afc whose house the sewing meeting was held. The total amount raised to date has, therefore been £28 9s 2 id, a most creditable amount considering that the Sewing Committee has been in existence only eight months, and that the same persons have been contributing throughout to ordinary expenses of the .Church. The ,moneys roceived are devoted to the Trust JFund, the debt in connection with which now Btands at £300. We are requited to state that lhe unsold goods are in charge of Mrs Loudon, and thai she will bo glad fco dUpoje of them to any person applying.
