The Jane Douglas, from Wellington and Southern ports, arrived a' Foxton at noon on Tuesday. She sailed again on Wednesday on the retnrn trip. The Jane Douglas may be expected from Wellington this morning, and the Tui, from Southern ports, tomorrow morning. The ship Rakaia sailed for London from Wellington on Tuesday last with fourteen passengers, and a largo cargo valued at £113,091: Her cargo included 5020 bales of wool, 90 casks tallow, 63 pkgs Bheepskin9, 50 bales rabbit skins, 5 boxen gold coin (valued at £25,000), 98 pkgs butter, 9 oases furniture, 404 pkgs pawa shells, 31 bales of leather, and 3 sacks of hair. Blr J. H. Wallace offered by public auc tion, on Tuesday, at Wellington, the paddle steamer Samson, the property of the West Wanganui Coal Company (in liquidation) . There was a large attendance, but bidding was very slack, and after two bida of £250 and £275 respectively, she fell to Mr W. Hickson for £300. The steamer cost the company £3500, and the price obtained in, therefore, considered to be ridiculously 1< w.
