The steamer Manawatn paid Foxton a vibit on Thursday morning. She left Wellington on Wednesday afternoon, and after rounding Torawhiti experienced a stiff southerly gale, until reaching Kupiti, after passing which a nasty heara .sea caused by the heavy westerly weather of the previous day, made the remainder of the passage extremely unpleasant. Captain Doile reports fin'lin<f 9 feet of water on the bar at three qu rUr- flood, when he entered. The Manawatu left on the return trip on Saturday morning. The steamer Oreti, from Northern ports, called in at Foxton last s?aturd:>y for a load of sleepers. *he left again on Sunday for Wellingtou, arriving theio the same night. The ketch Emerald, from Lyttelton, arrived in port on Friday, with a full cargo of produce. She has made a gool trip, having crossed the Vauawatu bar only on November 18. In the meantime Bhe has been t> Lyttelton nud back. Captain Moore evidently knows bow to handle the craft, and doubtless M'.ssrs Fieeman & Wylds, the owners, are satisnVd with the work they are knocking tmc of her. The steam< r Juno Douglas was advertised to leave Wellington for Foxton l*st ni ht, and the Tni to leave same pori for Foxton today. The ship Lochnagar, which was blown ashore a* Povony Bay a month or two aaro, ha» be«n successfully floated, and will probably begin at once lending up for London, Messrs Kennedy Hros., of Grey mouth, have purchased the wellknown coasting schooner Cora from the trustees of tho late Captain BusS'll for the sum of £250.
