SUPREME COURT.

The Supreme Court opened at Wanganui on Wednesday last, before Mr Justice Richmond. The Grand Jury returned True Bills against all v the prisoners, except three •who were jpharged with sheep stealing. JPJames Mahoney,a ias John Murphy, with stealing a horse, the property ef Wm. Campbell, was found puilty, ancf sentenced to two years' imprisonment, with hard labour. Hermann Behrendt was charged with stealing a silver watch, steel chain, and pocket-book, the property of Win. M. Muir, a labourer living between five and six. miles from Oroua Bridge. Prisoner was found guilty, and sentenced to two years' imprisonment, with hard labour. George Thomas pleaded guilty to setting fire to a Government stable, and sentence was deferred. Since sentenced to 8 years' imprisonment. • William Johns also pleaded guilty , to a charge of having stolen £10 from Frank Logan. Sentence was likewise deferred in this case. Since sentenced to a year's imprisonment. Joseph Minto, charged with horse stealing. — The jury could not agree. The case will be heard again. Jonas Mair, charged with larceny, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment. Mary Osbome, larceny. Pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to a year's imprisonment. M. Kevern, forgery and uttering. Prisoner pleaded not guilty, and was defended by Mr Cash. The trial was proceeding yesterday afternoon.
