The charge of conspiracy against Messrs Simpson and M'Lennan was called on again today, at the E.M. Court, when Mr Davy gave judgment as follows ;— '• I have considered the evidence iv this case from every point of view suggested, and have considered it very carefully. I can only come to the conclusion there is' no reasonable probability that a charge of conspiracy could be sustained. So far as lam concerned, at all events, I think the matter ought not to go any further, and I therefore dismiss the information." The Timber Tariff Lowered The Government, yielding to the general pressure, has reduced the carriage on timber sent by rail, for export only, by three pence per hundred feet.
