Welmxqton, Friday. Tea. — The business in this line has been a little animated during the month. Our market was quite bare, and buyers had to go to tho Australian markets. Low Hues aro most sought after ; boxes from 15a to 20s, and half-chests from Is 4d to Is 81. In bettei class of 'eas there is not much doing. Sugars are easier locally; our prices have given wny, in consequence of keen competition among our merchants ; stocks j are bore of any description, excopt Company's refined. Sever.il samples of Queensland have been received, but we are disappointed with them. We h:ivo not yet seen a good white. Wo, however, think that the tima U not far distant when we will not have to depend upon Mauritius for our supplies. Present quotations are— l W, £U to £45 : IC, £t r > t > 141 ; and C, £2l> to £37. The rtooks of other sizes are large, and prices range from £16 to £11 10s. Sheet lead is in fair supply, but the demand is restricted; pious £21 to £23. Hoop iron — Sales have been made at £ 1 5. Candles (duty lid per lb) are slighly easier in our market Prices for Dv Koubuix Oedeakoven 9d to 9£d ; Price's, lOd to lO^d. Kerosene. —The large quantity landed by tho Ingeburg has nearly all gone into con snmption. Stocks in Wellington are not large, the bulk of this shipment being plaosd outside. Quotations are, for guaranteed over 110 fl ish test, 2s to 2s 2d. Butter is in full supply, and for really prime potted 4d to 5d per lb may be quoted. Cheese is quoted at from 4id to s£d, accordiug to quality. Flour — In conseqnence of a large speoulativo purchase, in New York, the prices advanced 20s per ton in Adelaide, and as New Zealand millers hud advanced their price some time previously our marked did not respond. Wo caunot think, in the face of the statistics before us, that the rise can be of any duration. Our market is. however, weaker, and sales have been made as low as £9 15s, f o.b. at Sou hern ports GutmeHl is low ; wo quote £10 to £10 10s lor first-olaas brands. Pearl barley is quoted at £19 to £20 per ton. Wool.— The rasult of last sales, we are informed, have made me! chants eager to buj, and representatives are scouring the country with this object. We are not, however, in a position to quote prices, as the competition uppears to be keen. Tajtlow, by hst Home advices, was a little easier. The quantity in our market is small, as ths boiling-down season has tot started.
