Wednesday, October 20. The usual two sales have taken place daring the past fortnight; the one at Hawera was well attended with buyers, biidiug was very brisk, and capital prices were obtained for all that offered ; when taking into consideration the large number of cattle entered, the sale must be classod as patisfaotory for the vendors. At the yards tffday » large entry of cattle was made, prices wero maintained throughout the sale, and all the pens, were cleared. Sheep were in amall supply, and sold at fair values. The sale of the Fordell estate caused a goo 3 deal of interest, a great numbers of settlers and others attending; The property was started at £8 per acre ; the bidding ran quickly up to £9, and at that price it was knocked down to Mr Henry Sergeant. The house and land situated in Viotoiia Avenue was passed in, bs the price offered did not reach the vendor's reserve. Cattle. — At Hawera, 566 head were yarded — Store bullocks, 3-year-old, £6 10s ; 2-year-olds. £4 1 0* ; cows, £4 ; cows and calves,J£4 15s ; heifers, £3 10s ; yearlings, £2 10s to £2* 103. At the yards today, 322 head of cattle came forward— Fat cows, £5 2s 6d to £6 15s ; bullocks, £7 7s 6d ; 3-year-old store bullocks, £5 IBnto £6 7s 6d ; 2-year-olds, £4 10s; cows and calves, £4 1 5a; milch cows, £6 to £7 12s 6d: yearlings, £2 2s to £3. -. Sheep. — 370 were penned — Wethers in wool, 13s 9dto 14s 3d; store wethers. liis 6d; old ewes, 6s. Pigs.— Porkers, 14s 6d to 17« ; sows, 26s 6d to 325. Hobses. — Brood mares, £8 to £15 ; haoks, £8 to £10 ; aorews, 20s to 355. Expobts.— 6o cattle, 6UO sheep, and 20 horses.
