THE SANDON DISTRICT.

■ ■■ ■ ■'■ ♦ . 1 f Notes by a Traveller.] On my recent round through 4 the country I was agreeably astonished to note the improvements that had taken plaoe since my previous report from Sandon. First, the little contract let by the County Council for road formation on the Foxton and Sanson road was a source of pleasure to this 'ere scribe for I did not stick this tim c, as I used to do. The contracor, Mr Monteith, had completed over a mile since his acceptance of the tender, evidently showing that he is well up to his work. At Campbelltown, Mr Ransom has completed a very neat little cottage, and has mude other improvements t» a considerable extent. Further along tho line, may be seen other improvemants, such as bush felling and clearing, &«. Mrs Campion's new house is about completed, and looks well from the road. The building is situated on the left hand side of the Foxton and Sanson road, going towards Sandon, near the schoolhouse. On Friday, Messrs Stevens and Gorton held a sale at Feilding of horse*, cattle, she9p, &o. Shorn sheep brought 6s 6d, and sheep with wool on brought 12s Gd to 12s 9d. Horses were sold at various prices. One fine looking draft was 1 knocked down for £7, but I believe there was something wrong with him. Two good hacks were passed in at £8 each. One year old heifers sold at £l 17s Gd, and a two-year-old went for £3 IDs 9d. The rest of the stock went for fair prices. The same firm had a aalo of timber at on Saturday, which realised as follows :— Sawn rough timber, boards and scantling?, sold at from 4s 6d to 6s 6d per 100 feet; other dressed boards, torura, &c, went us high as from 10s 6d to 10s 9d. On the whole » fair average was realised. Tho timber was the property of Messrs Bailey Bros. Some farms are about to change hands, regarding which I will write you more particulaily hereafter. Meantime, adieu
