MANAWATU ROWING CLUB.

♦ • . . . The annual meeting of the above Club was held on Tuesday evening, at Whyte's Hotel, Mr J. T. Stewart, vice-president, in the chair. There .yas a good attendance. The balanfc euedt was presented by the hon. treasurer, Mr Young, audited by Messrs Shore and Symons. Prom this it appeared the receipts of the Club for the year were £103 19s 7d, made up 4s follows : — Members' subscriptions, £28 3s 6d ; Prizes won by the Club, £47 6s ; net proceeds of entertainments given under the auspices of the Club, £15 14s 7d ; donations, £7 7s ; sale of property £1 3s; subscriptions towards expenses of crew at Wanganui, £9 5s 6d ; total, £103 1 9s 7d. The expenditure had not been classified, but the money bad gone in erection of shed, payments for boats, and miscellaneous expenses. There are at present outstanding debts, amounting to about £10. A letter was read from Mr Robinson, iegretting his inability to undertake the presidency of the Club owing to his advancing years, and enclosing, a donation to {he funds, which the Secretary was requested to acknowledge with thanks. It was resolved, proposed by Mr Young, seconded by Mr ilusaell, "ThaVD. H. Macarthur, Esq., Chairman of the Manawatu County. Council,- be requested to accept the> position of president." Carried unanimously. , The following officers were reelected :— MrStewart, vice president ; Mr Howe, Captain j Mr Young, treasurer ; Mr G. Gray, secretary^ The committee for the ensuing year was nominated, and will be elected at next meeting. It was reported that the - property of the clvb — shed, &c— *was worth £60, and the boats £60 The committee were requested to bring up a report at an adjourned meeting to be held on October 16. A hearty vote of thanks -was passed to the officers of the Club. Mr Howe was requested to write to various boatbuilciers, asking for price and description of a new batswing 4-©ared gig. .Recounts amounting to. jCIO were passed. The following persons were elected members of the QJeb i-rMeww. Cox, C Symons, J. Williams, J. Russell, H. Davidson, "W;. Bobinson, E. West, J. JJ. Hankins, and J. Oliver.
