OBOUA. KIBDIO. The roads are in good order. There have been no works other than repairs carried on daring the month. KAWA KAWA KIDINO. I have had three of the maintenance men at work on the Carnarvon-Sanson Road, forming some of the bad parts of the road, I have aIBO, according to your instructions, staked out, levelled, and prepared plans and specifications for some 200 chalm of formation on Carnarvou-Sanson road. Forthla tenders are to be sent in today. In the specifications I have provided for lowering present culverts and repairs to same where necessary. I had to engage another roadman in lieu of W. Ludlow, he having refused to shift to Carnarvon to look after the southern part of the Kawa Kawa and part of the Awuhou Hidings. AWAHOU KIDIKC. There have been no repairs done in this Riding during the month. I had to condemn a number of posts in fencing across the Hon. J. Johnston's land at Foxton. Boaenthal is pushing on with his work 'of formation Avenue Boad, Foxton. HOROWHI'.KUA RIDING. The bush felling on Otakl-Foxton Boad, through Horowhenua Block, is being pushed on with, and will be finished in about six weeks to two months. This will comphte the bush falling throughout from Otaki to Manawatu Biver. Mr Carkeek is pushing on with the survey of road line from Otaki to Waikanoe. A letter from him is attached to this report, in which he states progress made, &c. BRIDGES AND FERRIES. The whole of the ferries are in good working order, and I have heard of no complaints against ferrymen during the month. A letter is attached from J. Hillary, the ferryman at Gorge, re ferry charges for coach when carrying her Majesty's moil only. I wrote to Mr Murray, to appoint a day and place of meeting to consult over the Eangitiket ferry, but have received no answer to same.
