-* Oiiristchurch, September 10. 4pfcc following is the Stock hxchange report :- -Thero are some indicitions of a dry season in Canterbury. Rain is wanted in many districts. The \anA is ploughing up very dry. The rainfall registered at the i meteorological «f n tion from t!.e first of last month was 574 inches. It is, however, premature to cry out, as the crops are looking well at present. Wheat.— The demand for this ' class of grain is hardly so good this week, at the { suraetime pi ices are not appreciably affected. Good sound milling' is worth 4s to 43 3d ; second quality ranging from 3s to 3s 9d ; chick wheat, 2s to 2s (id. Millers nre still in the market for good quality wheat. Inferior is rather neglected. " The demand for seed parcels has visibly decreased, and prices in consequence have somuwhat retrograded, 4s 3d to 4s 9d being (he present values. Oats — Shippers am in the market for samples of bright milling qualities at from lfl Gd to Is 8d per bushel. Feud parcels are not sought over by them. The local demand is the only oue for this clans of oats they are passing into consumption at from Is 3d to Is 4h] per bushel. Inferior feed quality, la Is 2d. fl Barley — Brewers and maltsters are still """©pen to buy, but not at high figures. Their present requirement are amply supplied, and indeed their future ones (to some ex tent) also Prime malting samples will command 3s to 3s 3d per bushel ; aecond class samples, 2s to 2s fid ; feed, quality, Is 6d to Is 8d per bushel. Shippers are in the mniket for f.iirly good quality at about 2s 6d per bu«lu-l. Grass -Seed — Trnde in this article of produce has been hotter during the past month, and seed of good qua'ifcy is readily saleable at from 2s 6 I to 2* 9d por bushel ; light and badly dre-s.'d samples, ]» 6d to 2s per bushel. Cocksfoot — ;:ales hsive been made during the week at from 3d to 3^ 1 per lb. Potatoes— The season is drawing to a close. Stocks in the hands of farmers *re rather above 'he average for tho season of tho year. No remunerative outlets are open beyond New Zealand ports. Sales are reported during tlio wee!; at 18s 'pnr ton. In the ati.spnceof actual orders buyers we reticent at, these low Ci« :ros. Quotations are nominal, at from 18s to 20s per ton. Cheese and Butter— There is no ch;nge to report in values. Tho former is in good supply at 4cl to 4}\ pur )b. Tho latter is abundant, and almost unsaleable*. Hay — 583 to 55.-; yer ton delivered in town.
