ALL SAINTS' CHURCH MEETING.
A meeting of members of All Saints' Church, Foxton, was held on Friday evening. The principal object of the meeting was to make arrangements for carrying on the services of the Church after Mr Flower's departure. Mr Flower occupied the chair, and explained that as this was the last meeting he would attend, he thought it desirable to put the members in possession of all necessary information as to the position of the Church. All local amounts had been settled, but about £12 was owing to a Wellington Church Fund as interest upon the debt on the building. He had received a letter from Air JL'owles, Treasurer of the fund, asking that the interest due might be paid. No seat reuts had been collected for the current year, but there were no arrears due from last year. With re ference to the General O'hurch Fund, he thought that i'uud had no claim upon the people of Foxton, as neither the Synod nor Diocesan Committee had considered the necessities or claims of Foxton to a minister. One donation of £20 had been handed in to him on behalf of the fund, but as the amount was given on the understanding that certain conditions would be complied with by tbe Church autborit.es, and as those conditions had not been carried our, he would hot feel justified in handing over the amount to the General Church Fund. He thought as much had not been done for the Foxton district as might have been done by the authorities in the matter of providing a minister, but believed a fair stipend could be raised. The mpeting then took a conversational turn, and Mr Flower made a number of explanations as to the position of Church matters, so that the members would be in possession of the iullest information. As regards the proposed arrngements for the carrying on of the Church services, it was determined, in view of Archdeacon Thorpe's intended visit this week, to take no action whatever in the matter, so that his hands would be unfettered in the appointment of a Lay Reader. For the same reason Mr Flower was urged to conduot the Sunday Services, which after considerable hesitation he consented to do. This concluded the business, and the meeting closed.
