Last night we received the following important telegram from our Wellington correspondent, which should certainly be received with satisfaction in Manawatu : — Wellington, Monday, 7 p.m. Tonight's Post says, " on reliable authority," that the Government intend to abandon the Local Public Works and Bating Act Amendment Bills, and pay the subsidies for six months longer, in lieu of the benefit proposed in the Bills to be abandoned. This is done in consequence of the lateness of the session, and the great press of business.
