FOXTON LOCAL BOARD.
Tuesday, 3rd August. A meeting of the Board was held at the Atheneeum on Tuesday evening last. Present — Messrs Easton (Chairman^, Coley, Reeve,. and Purcell. * -A. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Letter read from J. Nathan & Co., asking for particulars of the sum of £Q 1 7s 6d, alleged to be due for rates. The Clerk said he had served . two notices. A report from Mr Coley on the work done by day labor since the last meeting was read. Letter read from Mr J. T. Stewart, asking the- Board to do something* ; towards improving the river bank line near the.boafeshed. Letter read •trom Mr Wi Atkins, calling attention to the obstructed state of the drain through the mill flat; also asking that the southern endqf the town -might be protected from the loss caused by straying cattle, and stating that " much time and labor was wasted through the negligence of the Board in not enforc* ing proper regulations." A letter was read from Thos. Bowe, stating he would be responsible for any damage caused by Mrs Sullivan's _ cattle crossing the footpath at the entrance to the Catholic reserve. The Clerk .was. -insjbructed to inform Mr Bowe *he must make a crossing OVer the drain to the section in question. _■:,.."■:■ *, . . ACCOUNTS. -.-.■.' Managers of the Ban^s of Ney v Zealand and Australia, and, ask them oh r *<vhat terms an overdraft coulA be obtained, should it be -required, and , have, v power to transfer the Board's if necessary. The following was proposed by Mr Coley, seconded by Mr Purcell,; and carried—" That the sum of JB3 8s be voted to Mr Hayns for travelling expenses in connection with the Avenue Road." ; " '
