(reutee's telegrams.) Calcutta, July 29. Details have come to hand of the disaster at Candahar.

General Burrows' Brigade, numbering 3000 men, was attacked by Ayoub Khan's force, numbering 12,000. The British lost two guns, and being outnumbered fled. They were pursued for three miles by the Afghans, and in straggling driblets reached Gandahar, where they took refuge with General Primrose's force of 2000 in the Citadel.

The enemy cut the telegraph wires in order to prevent the British from obtaining reinforcements. Generals Phayre and Sandeman are now concentrating their forces in Bolan Pass. London, July 29. It is reported from Afghanistan that in consequence of the hostile attitude of Yakoob Khan's adherents at Ghuzai, the evacuation of Uabul by* the British troops will probably now be deferred. . Further detai's of the engagement between Ayoub Khan's army and General durrows' brigade in Candahar prove" tfiat the first accounts of the disaster are greatly exaggerated. General Burrows and the chief officers of his force reached the citadel of Candahar in safety. No details have yet been received as to the extent of the loss .sustained by the British troops.
