FOXTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
♦ - ■ A meeting of the Committee was held at Messrs Thynne, Linton & Co's office at 2 p.m. yesterday. Present — Messrs Thynne (Chairman), Stewart, Burgess, and Gray. A letter was read from the schoolmaster, stating that Miss Nash, a pupil teacher, would not be able to present herself for examination on the 29th, as, owing to the shock to her nervous system caused ly the death of her father, she was not fit to go on with her studies. A certificate from Dr. Barber in accordance with the above statement was enclosed. It was resolved to writ© to the Board, recommending that Miss Nash be allowed to remain in her present position for another year. The report of the sub-committee appointed to make some investigations at the school regarding Mr Hulke's charges against the Inspector, was read, and ordered to be forwarded to the Board. The report was as follows : — We the undersigned, a sub committee ap pointed by your Commissioners to inquire into the statement contained in Mr. Hulke'a letter to Mr. Sansom, that Mr. Fouli« never inspeoted the infant division of the Poxton school, as he mentioned in his report he had done, beg to inform you that on Monday, tho 13th June, we attended at the school, and personally interrogated the teaohers and their assistants on this point, and we feel convinced from their replies, tha f without their knowledge Mr Foulis could not have examined them, and that the infanta wore not examined to the knowledge of the teachers.
