Foxton Hiouways District. — Mr Ej, fC Tliynne has received a letter from the Government, enclosing a map of the boundaries of the proposed Foxton Highways District, and requesting him to state what divisions into Wards would be most oocoptable to the ratepayers. The boundaries of the diatriot will be as follow : — From a point near the Oroua Bridge along the rail way line to Carnarvon junction j thence to the sea beaoh, in a line due east ; thence along the beach to the Manawt>tu River and up the same to the starting point. Mr Thvnne has called a meeting of ratepayers for tomorrow (Saturday), at 11 a.m., to consider the division nf the Highways District into Wards. We would particularly impress upon country settlers thu importance of attending this meeting, so that the Wards may bo laid off in such a way as to afford complete representation to all parts of the district. Of course tho town of Foxtot is not included in tho Highways District. It is probable that iminodiat9ly the Government are apprisod of thu wishes of the ratep%yers regarding tho boundaries of the Wards, they will proclaim the Highways District. Thb County Estimates. — As our reader* nre aware, the County Council will meet on Thursday next, according to resolution and advertisement. Although, however, tho Council have advertised their intention to strike a shilling rate, it is just possible that their resolve may not be carried into effect at the meeting on Thursday, aB the business is stated on the circular calling the Councillors together to be : "To strike a rate on the Estimates as approved at last meeting, or to approve Estimates as recast"
