Sydney, Monday. Arrived — Te Anau, from Auckland. The crew of the Chandernagore having shown a mutinous spirit, police observations of the vessel day and night is found to be necessary. Later. After consultation in presence of Foreign Consuls, the Chandernagore affair has been settled, and the crew have obtained their discharge. News has been received that a steamer, with several hundred foreigners, for the colonization of New Ireland, has been sighted in the vicinity of that Island. Adelaide, Monday. The Orient Co.'s Steamship Aconcagua has arrived here from Plymonth. London, May 1. At wool sale to-day, 10,000 bales of wool were offered, making a total 111,200 catalogued since the opening. The tone of sale was quieter and weaker. For inferior and faulty wool demand is purely speculative. The Orient Coy.'s Lusitania sailed from Plymouth to-day. Earl Cowper has been appointed Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, and Lord Ottagan has been appointed Lord Chancellor of Ireland.
