« (FROM OTJII OWX COIUtESPOKDENT.) Wellington, Thursday, 7 p.m. The Tramway trial still continues, and may last till Saturday evening. A woman named M'Laggan attempted suicide this afternoon, by jumping oft' the breastwork near the railway wharf. She was quickly rescued. Butler, tho man lately tried for murder at Dunedin, pleaded guilty this morning on a charge of burglary at Stamper's house, but not guilty on the charge of stealing from the Catholic Church, though the Jury, without leaving the box, found him guilty. The Judge spoke very severely in passing sentence, concluding by committing him to gaol for IB years for burglary, and 10 years for larceny, sentences to run concurrently. At the suggestion of the Bench, a nolle 2> r osequi was entered in respect of the charge of attempting to shoot the constable.
