Coope. Mr Herbert Gladstone, a son of the ex-Premier, who contested the eleotion> was defeated. Mr Gladstone has been elected for Midlothian, by a large majority. - In the elections noW proceeding, the net Liberal gains, so far, are 62. PubUu returns one Home Ruler and oft TSberaK 'The Bight' Hon. E. Lowe 1 ' has been re-elected by the London University;; The Times, in a leading article, has Reason to believe, that the 'Ministry will resign . before Parliament meets. It is announced that Sadrali has been appbinteol to sovereigb rule at Candatbar,- under British protection. The returns of the elections so far Bhbrw,that27lLiberalpatid:HlCon; scrvatives have been elected, showing 'a majority of 130 ' to ' the Liberals. The total number of seats gained by the latter, js 59, and ' ihdir majority is , already sufficient fo make them ihde-* pendent of the support of the Home Kule party. ...
