A monster meeting is to take place early next' week in Wellington, to bring pressure to bear, with a view to securing the vigorous prosecution of this most important work. As will be seen by our telegram, Manawatu settlers are invited to co-operate. This is an opportunity that should not be missed. A public meeting should be at once called, and deputies appointed to attend the meeting at Wellington, and represent the views of the settlers as to the desirability of pushing on the work of formation at the Foxton end [BY TELEGRAPH.] (from a special correspondent.) Wellington, Thursday, 7 p.m. Very great public dissati9faotion is felt here amongst all classes and shades of political opinion regarding the result of the late interview with the Government respecting the West Coast Kail way. An address to the Mayor asking him to call a public meeting to urge on the Government the necessity of proceeding with the same immediately has received about 1200 signatures. A monster meet* ing, it is anticipated, will be held early next week. The co-operation of Manawatu settlers will be solicited.
