"1 ■♦ Chbistohvbch, February 14. We have passed through another week of flue favorable harvest weather, of which farmers have taken the fullest possible advantage by working early in the morning to late at night. Threshing machines are busy in all the prinoipal districts, and their owners are expecting to have a profitable season's work. Business has not been active during the week, as farmers have been far too busy to come to town. A few wheat sales are reported at Ss 8d to 3s lOd, but it is expected that next week will see yaluea more pronounced. A number of farmers are said to be arranging to take advantage of the inducements offered by some grain merchants to send their wheat to English markets other than London. It 18 a well known fact that London is the most expensive port to send wheat to, but on the other band there are more speculaton there than at ony other port excepting Liverpool. We sincerely trust thut those who avail themselves of the present opportunity will make a handsome profit out of the venture. A small retail business is doing in flour at 4>12, pending the new production being delivered. A considerable business has been done in oats. For choice heavy milling Is 6d is obtained and proportionately less for lower quality. We wish we could advite some improvement in the Australian markets, but so far do indication of such is manifested. Barley has bad more attention than any other cereal, and large •ales are reported at prices ranging from 3s to 3s 6d, according to quality. Grass seed is still offering freely, and sales are made at 2s to 2s 6d, according to condition of seed. A small .business is doing iv early potatoes at abont £2 10s.
