OTAKI HIGHWAYS BOARD.
» The Board met on February 14, at 2.30 p.m. Present — Messrs Simcox (Chairman), tlaclfield, Kebbell, Udy, M'Crae, and Dr Hewson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and con tinned. OTAKI POUND. Letter read, enclosing resolution from County Council, slating that the Council will be willing to cancel the appointment of Mr Cootes as poundkeeper, and to appoint another person willing to pu*". up a pound that the Otaki board may recommend. Proposed by Dr JJewsou, seconded by Mr M'Crae — " That the Chairman be requested to receive applications for the office of Poundkeeper, and recommend an applicauctothe Couucil." Carried. FINANCE. Proposed oy Mr Kebbell, seconded by Mr Udy —"That the standing or ders be suspended to allow of Mr HaJtield's motion re accounts of the ' Board being discussed before the motion adopting the accounts as presented." Carried. The Board then went into committee re accounts. The committee being dissolved, the motion standing in the name of Dr Hewson from last tasting, and seconded by Mr M'Ciae, "That the statement of accounts up to 14th January be adopted," was withdrawn. Proposed by Mr Hadfield, seconded by Mr Kebbell— "'l hat the working expenses of the Otaki Highways Hoard be borne by the wards iv proportion to the rates returnable in each ward, until such time as the wards are in a position to bear an equal share of such expenses." Carried. Proposed by Mr Kebbell, seconded by Mr Hadn'eid — "That the accTipiits bo made out in accordance wi"tfi**the resolution passed by the Board; and presented at the uexi meeting of the Board." Carried. Accounls amounting to £10 7s 6d were passed for payment. The next meeting of the Board will be held on Saturday, March 13, at 2 p.m.
