TO THE EMTOBrOF THE MANAWATU HERALD. Sißj^ltt your issue Of the 3rd tost., reporting* ihe County Council meeting of the 2nd, it is stated by the Chairman that I have abtised Ihakara. I j am sorry that the Chairman, who I feel sure has been misinformed, as from his well-known appreciation of light and truth would not have made such a statement had he known that I have always treated Ihakaia with every consideration. On seeing the statement in your paper, I felt called upon to 8W Ihakaia, and he attended before Mr Ward, 8.M., and Mr Baker, Clerk of tb,e Ci)Urr, and the matter at k issue was explained by Mr Baker to Ibakara, whp .totally denied that I had ever given him any cause of complaint. I feel called upon to make this statement to justify myself* I ams &c, : ; 'J'hos. Bowe. Mr, Baker hag authorised me to make use of his name in this matter.
