Tuesday, January 13, 1880. (Before Major Heaphy, Dr Hewson, «md W. 11. Simcox, Esq., J.P.'s.) civn. cases. Isaac Lawrio v. A. Kicld. — Claim £19 8* 6d, for wages duo and money lent. Judgment for plaintiff for £10 3s 6d, and costs £1 ss. James Wallace v. Pcne to Heihei — Claim £3. Judgment for plaintiff for £2 10s and costs, '6s. ASSAULT, An information was laid by Constable Coyle against a native named Bawiri Nera, charging him with having assaulted Ah Quie, a Chinese cook at the Telegraph Hotel, nn January 2, 1880, by striking him on tho face. The offence was fully proved, and defendant was fined 10a" and costs, 9s ; in default 48 hour*' imprisonment. Sr.Y GROG SELLING. Gladman Smith was charged with a breach of the Liconsing Act, by selling to James Ransfield, ou December 16, 1879, at Taikakariki, one glns3 of brandy, and one gluss of ginger wine. Tho case wns remanded to the tfiid March, in order to procure the attendance of a witness, Jamas Itansfield, who had disobeyed tho summons to attend as n witness in the case.
