The formation and metalling on Lee's line of road is finished, and contractor has made a very good job of saiuo, through the metal being carted over the formed and metalled road, deep ruts are cut which require filling in, on this I propose to empfcy a man at once to do the necessary repairs. Clearing scrub on Cemetery road, Jhis work is being pushed on with and will be finished next meeting of this Board. / The formation on Cometory road at Sanson is not yet finished sati3factory,/the contractor not having kept a true grade as per the section furnished to- him. / The drain through Town belt at Shnson is not yet finished. j Contractors for Wilson's line of road at Sanson are pushing on with their wcjrk in a satisfactory manner. I have let them the balance of the work of formation or this (Wilson's line), according to your instructions at last meeting, price for same being £50. Contractor for bush felling and cliaring on Frecklington's lino have completed! their work in a satisfactory manner. Thisjine is now open right through to Frecklington's land, this road line is very wet and will be a difficult road to drain through there being no running ere ?ks to carry the water dway. I have had "a man on in this Ward i oing repairs to f orm«d and metalled road ] ines. Tenders are oalled ior metalling Fa| line of road at Sandon. This work is to be carried out by a vote from County Council. There is great need for a few culvert \ on Speedy'a line of road to open commu iioation from Fagan's line to " main roa I to Foxton." — and Penny's line. No 2 Ward. I have called Tenders for formatioi of Whale line of road, Carnarvon. This it an. other special vote from County Counoil to be sp?nt on " Whale line " only. The contractor for River bank road (haul nearly completed his contract, there b(jing< now only some trimming, cutting c tchwater drains, and slopes to embankment i to alter batter of. On the 2nd contract of River bank r< ads the contractor is pushing on with his w >rk. •The slopes of 3 sand cuttings requir i to be sombbed on. The said slopes will bio v in holes and also the road itself »s likely tc be blown in holes at these particular siots. The small cost now will probably save the Board twice or three times the amount i a a few months time. Hiokford's line— The formation on his road line is finished. Nothing furthei is done in reference to the bush felling i ,nd [ clearing on the balance of this road line, If the settlers fence their sections this port ion of road line would be completely bloc ced for traffic * No 3 Wabu.
