Chkistchuuoh, December 27. After the heavy rains we had ten days ago, tho present fine weather is very acceptable, and is doing immense good to the country. The crops are looking well in most districts, and from some of the earlier ones reports reach us that harvesting will I very shortly be commenced. In transactions tho usual semi-retail business is to be recorded. Wheat has met with a moderate demand at 4s 9d to ss, according to quality; a parcel of 25l)0 bushels of fair quality is reported to have been sold at the former figure. Inferior wheat for fowls is in good demand at 3s 9d to 4s. Flour has been iv good demand at £13 for bakers' parcels. Oats are almost unsaleable. Those who hold any cannot think of accepting the low offers made by buyers, and on the other hand buyers I'ave a very good prospect of getting more than what they offer returned in event of their being compelled to ship to Australia. Sales aro made with difficulty at Is 8d to Is lid. The bailey market is quite bare, so that there should be a fair demand for new grain. Butter is plentiful, but buyers at over 6d are scarce. Old oheeses are in good demand at 6d. New ate offering at sd, but they are not fit for shipment yet. Hams and bacon continue in good demand at lOd, in cloth* — Press, 27th December.
