DISTRICT COURT.

The above Court was opened at Palnierston North yesterday, before his Honor Judge Hardcastle. The Crown Prosecutor entered a nolle prosequi in the case of G. M. \ Snelson, charged with a breach of the Arms Act. , In the case of Benjamin Pepper, charged with wilful and corrupt per- , jury on oath before the creditors' trustee in his bankrupt estate, the jury returned a verdict .of guilty, but sentence was deferred pending the decision of the Supreme Court on a point raised by Mr Sfcaite, solicitor for the defence. Bail was allowed — prisoner in £50 and two sureties of £25 each. Should the appeal be not sustained, Pepper will be sen- ' tenced at next sittings of the Court. Mr H. L. Sherwiil was foreman of ] the jury. The Court was crowded during the hearing of the case. <
