THE OTAKI CASE.
TO THE EDITOH OV THB MANAWATU HERALD. Sm— At the sitting of tho R. M. Court here yesterday, a case was heard, the police v. Greunough, for permitting the game of Yankee Grab to be played in tho Telegraph Hotel. One of the witnesses, John Miller, the barman, stated in his evidence that that which Alfred Knocks. had ito.ted-was utterly false ; as no dice had been used in the hotel for at least three months previous to the present information. Now, Sir, there are at least six respectable residents who have seen dice belonging to hotel, and used them in the game of Yankee Grab for drihks>conbiderably wilhin three months, and the dice handed, to them by Mr Miller to play with. I refrain at present from using the persons' names who have seen the dice used for the above-named purpose, as it is highly probable that their names will appear at another place. I am, &c, Alfrb"d""Kn6cki?, Otaki, 3rd December.
