+._ (PER PRESS AGENCY.) Oamaru, Wednesday. A fire broke out at Oamaru at 1.30 80 this morning, in a boarding house in Wear- street occupied by a man named Keenan. It was a wooden building two stories high. A strong wind was blowing at the time, and it was soon destroyed. .Tiie fire spread to the adjoining premises, that on the light beiDg' a malt kiln owned by 'Mes-r.s. Lentall and Ottersen ; that on. the kit by a Venetian blind maker, named -James. Both of these were stone buildings. Owing to the exertions of the fire brigade the fire was ■v prevented from spreading. The malt fctolnrwas damaged to the extent of MtfiOO. It was insured inthe South Jatoes' stock was insured £100 in the Colonial. Most of H}ie stock was saved. Messrs. Ferrier Rock'sphotographic studio, above James' shop, was destroyed, and all the material and apparatus were, ruined. They were insured for £150 in the South British. Mr Keenan was insured for £300 in the New Zealand, but reinsured in the North British. The buildings occupied respectively by James and by Ferrier and Rock are considerably, damaged. They were. insured for £400 in the South British.
