« MR FREEMAN R. JACKSON'S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK RKPORT. Wanganuii October 22, 187?. The quotations for the two sales during the past fortnight will be found below. Prices were in favour of the buyers throughout. There was an average' attendance of settlers and others, but though the rates were low, some of the stock had to be turned out unsold. This must be attributed to the scarcity of money i as stock purchased at the present values, must leave a margin of profit to the farmer At present there seems no prospect for an} r improvement, though I think stock will not go below pricees now ruling. Beef at the yards was of -good quality, and made fully 22s <5d tho liiOlbs. • Cattle. — At Waverley, 100 head were yarded, an I were all sold— Bullooks, £o ; cows, £4 to £4 17s 6d; eighteen months old mixed cattle, £3; yearlings, £2 os; calves, 255. At St Hill Street to-day, 121 head came forward — Fat bullocks, £8 5s to £9 3s 6d ; cows, £6 12s 6d to £9 7s 6d ; store cows, £3 as to £4 3s 6d; yearlings and eighteen months old, £2 los ; calves, 25s to 38s; one bull, £9 los. Sheep.— 32o were penned. Shorn wethors in medium condition, 5s 9d to 6s ; in wool, 10s 3d to 10a 6d. Pias. — Stoes, from 6s to £1 7s, according to size. Horses. — Dull of sale. Exports. — 89 cattle, 1100 sheep, 20 horses,
