« Wanganui. October 8, 1879. I have only to report the sale lield this day, which passed off as well as could be expected whoa the general depression in business and the alteration in the terms of my sales are taken -into consideration. Prices were slightly lower lhau at list sales, and all the stock was quitted ac quotations excepting a few pens of sheep. I quote best beef at 2Cs the 10 lbs, medium, 17s 6d. Cattle. — 174 head were brought for waiflVFat bullocks, good qiality, from £8 loa to -£'9 12s Gd; inferior, £7 os ; cows, £6 2s6d; cows and cnlves, £o ss; cows, £3 10s to £4 10s; two year-olds, £3 10s; yeak-lings, £2 Ids to £2 12s 6d. Sheep.— HOO were panned. Wethers, 83 6d to 10s 3d ; mixed sheep, 7s Od. Houses. — Prices in favour of buyers. I sold a number at quotations : — Draught, £28, £33, aad £40; unbroken draughts, £15 to £20;- hacks, £6 to £10. Exports.— 60 cattle, 700 sheep.
