AN ARTIST'S DREAM.

This is the account given by the Argus oi of one of his exhibitions, termed " An fc Artist's dteam" :•—" A lay figure is x brought to the artist's studio and put together on the stage. The artist foils asleep while reading the paper, r and suddenly a small imp appears out ' of nothing, and after making a few j nasses afc the lay figure, the latter 5 rises and walks, forward to an, i; easel in front of the stage, draiws" a carjcature of the artist, and then sits down . in a chaii*. The imp then makes t passes at the artist, who follows in } his sleep, to the chair in the recess f The imp and the lay figure then goto I the recess, and carry the artist for" i* ward, when he is found to be a . dummy. They replace him in the ■ chair, and affcer some passes from the i imp, the dummy rises from the chair . and walks forward to his original seat. The lay figure then, obeying ■ the gestures of the imp, takes his ; place in the recess. The imp, while . standing iv front, fades from view, ■ and the artist wakes up in a fright. The servants rush-in, and pull the lay figures to pieces, and the curtain falls, leaving the audience in a state of utter bewilderment, as to how the deception had been managed.
