"Wellington, Monday, 7.50 p.m. The body of John Houghton, who has been missing for some time, was found in the harbor this morning. There were no marts of violence. Mrs Taylor, of Lome Street, gave birth to triplets on Saturday. The Governor forwarded the Royal bounty of three guineas. The triplets died this morning. Dunediv, Monday, 7.15 p.m. An alleged brutal and fatal assault was committed by Smith, a tailor, in Great King street, on his wife Through his ill-treatment at Caversham, she ? obtained a protection order, and went to Dunedin. He also went there, living in a house close by. On Saturday, deceased called at her husband's house to get some money due her on maintenance order. She was next seen about 12 o'clock, lying on the pavement. When brought to her brother's house, she said, "He kicked me twice, and broke my leg." She had sustained a compound fracture of the leg above the knee. She was soon after attacked with an epileptic fit, and during a second attack died.
