V . I (by telegraph.) Christchuuch, Thursday. The Corn Exchange roport for the week states that business in the grain market lias been void of animation. Wheat — Local demand is fairly good : Frst-class milling samples, 4s 6d to 4s 8d ; mrrtium, 4s to 4s 4d; chick, 3s (id to 3s Sd. Oats continued to be absorbed for local U3e ; unless further outlet is iound prices will eventually decline : First-class feed, 2s 5d to 2s 7d ; seed, 2s 8d to 2s 9d ; best milliug, 2s 8d to 2s lOd. Barley — Small parcels of inferior continue to como forward : Prime malting will readily command Gs to 6s 6d ; medium to good, 4s 6d to 5s 6d ; feed, 2s 3d to 3s. Potatoes value a shade hotter — Blue Derwent, £3 10a to £3 12a 6d ; kidney, for seed. £9 to £10. Grass, first claes town-dressed, ss 3d to os 6d ; formers' cleaned, 4s to ss. Butter 9d to lOd ; cheese, 6d to 6£d. Avchlxsv, Friday. Pat cattle, 28s to 35s for prime quality, and a gre.iter number are realising from 30s fis*33s. Sheep— shorn wethers, lfd ; wethers in their wool, "<!£ d. Timaru, Friday. Very little doing in errain market. Wheat, prime, 3s 9d to 4s ; inferior, 3s 6d to 3s Bd. Oats, nominal, Is od to to Is lOd. Barley, no quotations. The weather of late has been highly favorable to young crops, which are in a very satisfactory condition. Ditnedin, Friday. Lees and Oo.'s, of Dnnedin corn exchange, report for week is as follows : — The wheat market has been active during the week, and prices have advanced considerably, especially regarding inferior and medium ■Equalities, which have been bought up at extreme rates, according to which sales we are are j ustified in quoting choioe qualities at 5s p^r bushel, medium, 4s 6d to 4s Bd, inferior, 4s to 4s 3d ; fowls' wheat scarce in maiket, and would command 3a 6d to 3s 9d. . Flour has advanced to £11 and A' l2 per ton on to-day's quotations, according to quality and quantity. Oats are in greater demand, but higher values are not paid — feed, 2fl to 2s Id ; milling, 2s 2d to 2s 3d, good supply. Edenhall market quotes nioro in request, and supplies larger, of Southern growth, at ££ 15a to £5, whilst Oamaru is ready of sale at £'» os to £5 7« Gd. Cutter is still inquired for, but there is no supply. Cheese ia in demand at 6£d to 7£d. liacou and >. hams move off f reply at 8d to 9d ; bacon pigs in carcase, small weights 6d, larger 3M to 4Jd.
