I* Tuesday, September. % 1 879. The Counsil met at 2 p.m. Present — Messrs Macarthur (Chairman), Kebbell, Loudon, Linton, Sanson, and Dr Rockstrow. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Leave of absence wa? granted to Mr Grower on the motion of Mr Sanson. The Rangitikei County Council having brought before the Council a debt of some few pounds fur expenditure on embankment at Onopuhi Bridge, the amount was ordered to bo paid. I'OXTOX FOOTPATHS. Letter read from Foxton Local Board directing attention to a former letter, asking for a refund of £10, owing to the Board having been compelled to spend £10 in making Main-dtreet. Mr London strongly urged tho claim of the Uoard, and moved, " That £10 bo paid, to tho Local Board, Fojctoii, in lieu of £10 expended by it on widening and gravelling" -Main-street, from the Band cutting to Mrs Burr's cornor." This \>\)B opposed by Dr Roolcstrow. Upon a division, tho following votes weje taken: — For the motion — Messrs Loudon, Sanson, and Linton ; against— Messrs Maoarfchur, Kebbell, und Dr Kockstrow. Public Works Department, declining to advance, funds for making jonds, repayment to be made out of County's share of proceeds of land sales in Otamakapua Bock. Received. Lebtor road from W, Jackson, Secretary Foxton and Sanson Railway Co., depositing the Voters Roll. Received. Lettor read from C. M'Kenzio Otangiti Hotel, applying for n slaughtor license. _Left over for next meeting. '" Letter real from Chamber of CiSsstcrce, Wellington, re grant for Foxton Waikaiiao Road, and slating, that before taking any action the Chainbor wished to be informed what reply the Government had made co the Council on the subject. Received. No reply, has yet been received from Government. ' Letter read from W. Watson & Co.,applying for a Ibonso for a slaughter house near Sandon. Left over for next sitting. The Cliainnan promised to write to the Hutt Council, and obtain a copy of. their bye laws before next meeting. Upon the "motion of Mr Kobbell, it was resolved, "That Mr. Jas. Cootos -be appointed Poufidkccper at Otaki, appointment to take effoQt.ns soon as he h:is erected a proper pound, to be approved by tho Engineer. Thft Cpnnoil in innking this oppoint ment will not be responsible for any expens? incurred in ths erection of this pound, nor. for any compeusiitu>n on its account at any future time." . - CLAIM 101l' lIUaH FELLING.; The Comity Council having at previous meeting resolved to grunt a refund of money spent by settlers on the South side of the Palmeiiton Qorge Road in falling bush on road ikes, Mr T. Edward-i wrote, requesting payment of amount spent by him. Ho also asked- that he might be allowed payment for aifull chain, instead of half a chain. Tho fooling of the Council was against allowing the chain. The matter was left over, as Mr Edwards also claimed for damage done to his fencing through fin 1 , owin» to t|io bush being left" standing.
