MR HALCOMBE AT OTAKI.

Mr Halcombe addressed a large meeting at Otaki on Wednesday evening. Mr Dodds occupied the choir. A large number of natives were present. Mr Halcombe con* demned the action of the Government in mating small .advances on native land to single individuals, and crippling the remaining owners by proclaiming the land under negotiation. He advocated that native landß should be opened and sold by Government, the proceeds being 'handed over to the natives, less expenses. Mr Carkeek proposod. a, vote of confidence, which was tcconded by Mr Cootes/and curried.
