IMPOUNDING CATTLE.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE MANAWATU HERALD. Bra— l beg to contradict the false assertion laid against me in your last issue by Mr S. flowan, of impounding sheep and cattle off private land. I a-n prepared to refute, and can prove that his cattle impounded by me were at large on a Highway, and the day before were trespassing , and I cautioned him. It is a practice of complainant's, and has been for a number of years, turning his cattle out on the roads, and consequently becoming a nuisance to neighbors, and also bo f -h High way and Local Boards. I am &0., Geokge Cook, Poundkeeper. Foxton, 16th August.
