CLEVER CAPTURE.
On Saturday last, as Constable Gillespie was standing near Bainesse Farm,alongßide the railway line, talking to Dr Rockstrow, a stranger rode up on a sm.irt hoiye. The Doctor recognised it as belonging to Mr P. Warburfcon, and a close inspection showed the acute constable lh-.it such wa3 tho ouso. He ut onco begged Dr Kookstrow to parley with the thief, and ran into the farm house to boirow a horse to pursue him. Dr Uockstrow endeavoured to engage the man in conversation, but he was too wary, and made the best of his time. The constable, however, shortly after got mounted, but no sooner did the fellow see him, thun he started off at a gallop, the Constable after him. The race continued until nearly as fur as the Oroua Bridge, when the constable overhauled his man, and ran him alongside a cutting, where lie was speedily hauled off his horse and handcuffed. The wholo affair was done in a olevor manner by Constable G-illespie, who deferred oro.lit for his energy.
