Land Sale. — A land sale was advertised j to take place at Halcombe, on Wodnesday last, Messrs Thyune; Linton and Co., being the auctioneers. At the houi appointed, there was a good attendance, but as no bids were tendered a sale did not eventuate. Sandon EAiiwAY.— As will be seen from our report, a meeting of Directors of the Sandon Railway was held on Tuesday lastj at which a considerable amount of work was gone through. Mr Jackson, of .°anson, was appointed Secretary to tho Company for three months, receiving as his remuneration £50. The rating was not determined on, excepting so far as to divide £250 between the townships of Foxton and Sanson. The amount to be raised in Foxton will be at the rate of about fld in the & on the present value, and in Sanson it will be Is in the £. The first call ha 9 been paid on nearly 2,000 of the shares applied for. The Georgias.— The Georgia Minstrels gave three entertainments in Foxton,— on Tuesday and tho two following nights. The audiences on each occasion were very good, and thoroughly enjoyed the humours and music of the minstrels. The daacing is excellent, and the singing above the average, whilst tho antics and farces of the performers keep the audience in roars of laughter. They lea to by the Iluia to-day.
