v. ■ " : ~~*~- ' A meeting of the above was held at the Board's office, Main street, on Wednesday last, at 8 p.m. Present— Messrs Crowther (chairman), Cook, Coley, and Easton. The minutes of the extraordinary meeting held on the Ist July, were read and confirmed. Letter read from Mr P. Neylon, complaining that the work now going on near Mr Stewart's was encroaching on his property. The Chairman stated that he had inspected the place complained of, and saw no damage. It was decided to instruct the Clerk »o write to Mr Neylon, informing him that nothing could be done in the matter. Leave was granted to Mr S. Baker ; erect a fence across a road leading through sections 14 and 15, and 309, ihe applicant to erect a gate. . . The following tenders were opened for forming the drain and footpath along sections 547 to 582: — H. tfalson, 9s 6d per chain (informal) ; E. B. Davis, 7s 6d per chain ; Thos. Connor, 7s per chain. The lowest tender was accepted. , Accounts amounting to £53 13s 3d were passed for payment. In reference to the delay of Bobin-, son and party in carrying but their, contract , for formation of footpaths in Main-street, the following resolution/ proposed by Mr Easton, and . : seconded by Mr Coley, was carried : —That the Clerk be instructed to >> write 1 to Robinson and party proceed immediately with the formation ,cf footpaths, and if not proceeded with within seven days, the work will be completed at their coßt. It was resolved on the motion of • Mr Easton, seconded by Mr Coley, to call for tenders for forming and metalling the road from Main-street to the Public Hall. ''* Mr Coley brought under the notice of the Board the bad state of the drain find, footpath along the Tramway, and the Chairman was em--1 powered to have the necessary repairs 'effected. "' ' A discussion took place in reference,, to naming the streets. The Chairman said he should like to see Maori namps adopted; while Mr ] ' tJoley would prefer to see 'a principle 1 adopted; and the streets named after 4 the various Governors of the Colony. ' Mr Easton thought that was a good c , suggestion, but hoped to see- some ± \M itha flarlyi settlers' -u^mes ; used, j Ijvenf i^aljy, it . was , decided; to leave the matter over until next meeting, which will be on the 30th inst.
