FOXTON LOCAL BOARD.

Monday, June 30. The Board met at 3 p.m. Pre-sent—-Messrs Crowther (Chairman), Easton, Coley, and Cook. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The following tenders were opened for making 6 chains of drain and 5 chains of road on the Avenue : — S. Cook, £49 j G. Cook and 0. Collins, £41 ; H. Wilson, £40 ; J. A. Perreau, £23 j E. Gladstone, £15 10s; D. Hogan, £11 8s ; H, Blake, £9.— Upon the motion of Mr Easton, the tendei of Mr Blake was acc3pted. A memorial was read from several ratepayers, asking the Board to open the road from Avenue Bridge through Mr Cook's property to the Moutoa Road; also a road leading from Main-street through Mr Gray's paddock, to join the Government road, and asking the Board to fence both sides of the roads with a four- railed fence. — Mr E. S. Thynne wrote a lengthy formal protest against any expenditure of the Board's funds in either making a street before it was legally handed over, or in fencing private property. — The Clerk was instructed to write to the memorial iets and Mr Thynne, stating that the Board had for the present left the matter in abeyance. Mr Easton proposed, " That tenders v be called for digging a drain in accordance with the request of Jorjn .Young and others ; the said drain fo commence at section 682, and end at 547, being 15 chains, more or less." Seconded by Mr Coley. and carried. Accounts amounting to £9 16s 5d ▼ere passed.
