The steamer Huia floated off the ground on Tuesday last soon after 1 o'clock, and shortly after made fast to the wharf. The steamer sustained no material damage whatever during her enforced sojourn at the spit. A preliminary enquiry into the cause of the accident was held before the Collector of Custons at the port on Wednesday last, a full report of which appears in another column. The steamers Jane Douglas axid Huia left Foxton at 8 o'clock yesterday.morning, for Wellington. The Stormbird was to leave Wellington at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon for this port.
