Well-Deserved Honors. -It will be seen by our telegrams that the Hon. William Fox, and the Hon. Edward William Stafford have been made Knight Commanders of the Order of St. Michael and St. George. We venture to say that the news will meet with approbation throughout the i Colony. Mr Fox's long public services as I Native Minister, Premier, &c, have entitled him to the reward of Knighthood, at the hands of her Majesty the Q leen. Mr Stafford, as Premier of the Colony, was perhaps the most coolheaded and able statesman New Zealand has yet possessed, being well worthy to divide honours with the more daring nnd ambitious Juluu Vog«l. Mr Richurdson, as iVinister for Public I Works under the " Continuous Ministry," I performed good service, whilst Mr Lar- : nachs success in raising the last loan has entitled him to a first degree in Knighthood as a C.M.Gr., which honour is also shared by Mr Richardson. Messrs Fox and Stafford have been advanced to the second degree of honour, that of K.C.M.G, We heartily j congratulate the two gentlemen— Sir Will lia>n Fox and Sir Ed. Stafford — upon their honours, which have been gained, not through warfare, but through tho triumphs of colonisation.
